Where to Stay: Palazzo di Valli, Siena

I've always felt like I was born in the wrong era. I love the convenience of modern technology but I often don't understand it and get very frustrated with it. Being in the Tuscan countryside at this beautiful place put me at peace - I wanted to forget (and did) about work, social media, my cell phone.  When we pulled up to the Palazzo di Valli right outside of Siena, I knew I would love everything about this hotel and this place...

Dating back to the 16th Century, the Palazzo di Valli villa has been lovingly restored and converted into a little boutique style hotel with modern amenities.  The rooms are rustic but comfortable and each window has an amazing view. A beautiful garden and a grove of olive trees surrounding the villa invites guests to sit still and truly enjoy everything Tuscany has to offer.  You have a gorgeous view of Siena and the surrounding countryside - the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine.

Breakfast is served in the basement of the villa - a converted wine cellar. Handmade each morning with made-to-order eggs and omelets and unlimited refills on those espressos. The perfect start to a perfect Tuscan day.  Siena is a nice leisurely walk away (about a half a mile) or there's a city bus that will take you to town for a couple of Euro.  We used Palazzo di Valli as our base for exploring Siena and Tuscany and could not have loved it more. With every trip we take, I'm learning to slow down and appreciate the small things - a real key to our bedroom door, the layers of history, the feeling of contentment knowing I am in a place I truly love....
